What is a vegan?
A vegan is someone that does not use or eat any animal products whatsoever.
It's a 100% plant-based diet.
What is a HCLF vegan? (80/10/10)
A HCLF vegan is a vegan that primarily eats carbs (from fruit!)
Most of my diet is made up of raw fruits, raw vegetables, cooked vegetables, cooked carbs (rice quinoa, potatoes, corn), and beans, with a few nuts and seeds.
80/10/10 means that 80% of my diet is made up of carbohydrates, 10% fat, and 10% protein.
Although I make a lot of raw vegan desserts on my blog, I DO NOT eat them everyday.
The desserts that I make are a delicacy - I usually only make them for special occasions, and I eat them sparingly.
Since I can't eat all of the desserts by myself, I like to bring them to family gatherings, parties, and fun events to share with my friends.
Although your diet is the most important part of your health, you can't forget to exercise. I'm a competitive distance runner (I run about 5-6 days out of the week) and I plan on being one for the rest of my life.
You can read about why I went vegan here: Why Vegan?
Throughout the day, I am constantly drinking water. When I first wake up, I drink 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar mixed with 2 cups of water before I eat any solid food. Not only is it important to hydrate when you first wake up, but the apple cider vinegar helps with digestion. I bring 48oz water bottle with me to school, so I am continuously hydrating my body. After dinner, I usually drink 3-4 cups of hot water or herbal tea.

I believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Most kids my age don't eat breakfast because "there isn't enough time". The truth is, most people are too lazy to get up early to make themselves a nice breakfast, and I don't blame them. I don't like waking up early either. But I love breakfast too much to oversleep, even on a holiday.
So, what do I eat for breakfast?
In the summer, I like to make a 64oz smoothie every morning.
I usually use 5-8 bananas, a few dates, coconut water, and whatever berries we have lying around.
If we don't have enough fruit, I have a big bowl of cereal with seeds.
In the winter, I like to have a big bowl of oatmeal with maple syrup and bananas.

DeleteOn my Ezekiel Sandwiches I like to put some banana slices and organic fruit purees. Sometimes I'll make a sandwich with hummus and veggies, it really depends on what I have at home!
Do you make these fruit purees or buy them? I would love some more ideas for these sandwiches, it sounds like a great easy lunch to take to work!

I would absolutely love(and am absolutely willing) to pursue vegan diet. However, my current lifestyle does not allow me to cut dairy products out of my diet, so a vegiterean diet is the most that I can manage(don't worry I don't eat eggs).
ReplyDeleteHow long do you generally run for? If I were to run 5 ish times a week for around 20-30 minutes would my legs become tonned & lean or more muscular ? Great post btw ! :D
